The magazines I get say different. Of course, its all in what they are testing under what conditions. Dell is usually in the top 5 in my mags. I'll look to see if the mags have them online.

- Interesting. I've taken an old dell and replaced everything in it. The only thing original was the case itself. I've also filled every single bay with hardware without any problems with lack of power.

"Or their "tweaked" BIOS's on video cards and NIC's that require you to use Dell's drivers. Which tends to cause problems if you want to upgrade OS's. There have been documented cases of Dell refusing to provide XP drivers for those upgrading from, say, Win ME...."

-tweaked is a good thing in my book. I guess it depends on what your doing with the system. Gamers and graphics people usually upgrade vids often while office people do not. Never seen a problem here. First I've heard of even an issue with a NIC card. Most of the time, in Dells, thats intergrated into the MB. So it's the MB manufacturer who provides the drivers. MB manufacturers update their bios and drivers all the time.

That's your view and your welcome to it. Dell's do have their place and I would think if everyone was having the same problems as you Dell wouldn't be the largest, most profitable computer maker.

While I build my systems, I'd still buy one for the right job.
