This isn't an endorsement for the Mac (could be), more an
endorsement for lower noise pollution. Just so happened Macs
fulfilled the solution.
We had a PC network and then we connected two iMacs to the
network. When we turned off the PCs the silence was deafening
what a difference the Macs made. Yes we could have install
insulation and the like on the PCs but why should we have to?
The sound from the PCs came mostly from the power supply
then to a lesser degree the CPU fans. With the PCs and monitors
the room would be warm causing people to comment about the
heat and of course the PCs noise. When we realized we could do
it all on the Mac we gave away the PCs. Now that we're Mac
only the ambient temperature and noise of the room is a none
issue. We're running iMacs and looking to add a Mac Mini as
well. Folks say their more comfortable, we don't hear the
computers just typing. One of the folks said anymore they go
home without a headache.
By the way I used to have a full-dress Harley; it had a wonderful
sound. With a computer I want quiet so I can concentrate, talk
comfortably on the phone and with people around me. When we
had the PCs folks that called would comment about the
background noise. On a call the other day a customer mentioned
not hearing the usual background noise and wondered if I was in
my office. I informed him we went all Mac so there wasn't the
sound and yes I was in my office. He's now looking into a Mac
solution for his office.
A side note: we no longer worry about Trogans, Viruses, Worns
and the like as well. This is working well for us. - Posted by: RicD_ Posted on: 01/31/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
