- PCs can be quiet

Sun and Apple make their own computers, and noone else. That means that each model line has its own noise characteristics.
PCs on the other hand are made by a plethora of manufacturers. Every manufacturer has their own idea as to how to handle things, so two equivelant computers can have vastly different noise characteristics.
