I do mac support too.

I am a high school teacher. There are far more PCs in my school than macs so the "official" support teacher gets a $1000 stipend for his work but has no idea how to work on a mac. So it has been up tpo me to support the macs. I have 20 plus in my classroom, no problem. Then there is the journalism teacher. Since even in our PC dominated school corp. all journalism rooms are mac then our journalism teacher is totally mystified. The up side is that she got 7 new eMacs and I got 4 of her iMacs. In previous years I have gotten old 5200s from her.

The silly part of the posts from Vily the eternal flamer is that it is pretty obvious that he is not a day-to-day mac user as you and I are. Do macs cost to much and are they too slow as he constantly harps on? Who cares! They do exactly what I need to do. That is what is important, not quoting stats about Pentium speeds and such. (Although if G5 duals were so slow then I doubt if they would sell so many to grahic design, music and movie editing people) Anyway 1ghz G4 eMacs with 17" screens are fantastic for high school year book layout and such. This is where anyone who reads Vily and actually takes him seriously is beng fooled. For that matter, at home I have a g3 iMac still (600mhz.) I have no need for more speed to surf the net, record assignments in a grade book, type lesson plans and edit iMovies for my science class. I will upgrade to a new iMac G5 soon so I can put my educational videos on DVD. But again for someone in la la land the experiences of a user who gets his work done as he sees fit are not enough.
