Well then...
...how about a USB 2.0 and a Firewire port in the car?

Though actually since the new flash iPods use USB I wonder if speed even is a factor. USB 1.1 is will transfer about 1 MB/s even with the extra overhead. And I think I read somewhere that the maximum bitrate for an MP3 is 320kbit/s.

It would be nice though, for now at least, to be able to just plug in the iPod and let it just connect to the speakers directly so it can use the iPod functions.
