Any facts to back up your secret deal?
The X11 stuff is the main reason I've yet to move over to OO. I'm still running my copy of Office V.X, which should suffice until either OO improves on the Mac, or iWorks gets up to speed. Regardless, it's silly to compare this new program which no one has seen yet with anything else. Use it first, then complain.

---If the deal with the devil expired, then where is the Apple Newton?---

The deal Apple made with MS expired in 2002:

Microsoft promised to keep developing Office for the Mac for 5 years and bought $150M in non-voting stock from Apple (which they subsequently sold off at a nice profit). Apple dropped some of their lawsuit threats and made IE the default browser, rather than Netscape. Nothing in the deal had anything to do with the Newton or any other handheld. If you can find real evidence to back this up, I'd love to see it.

Personally, with the handheld market dying off (or at least moving into convergence with the phone market), I think Jobs was pretty smart to not try to get into it.
