Re:
---As far as that's true, that only eliminates about 10% of computer users, if that.---

So it's okay to be incompatible, if it only inconveniences a minority of users? Let's look at the stats for mp3 players. Since Apple owns that market, shouldn't we give them the same leniency we're giving the WMA file stores? Really, not being able to play a iTMS song only eliminates a small percantage of mp3 player owners...
I'm not saying you're wrong to be annoyed by Apple, but you can't have it both ways. Either both types (WMA or FairplayAAC) are annoying or neither are.

---Honestly, I haven't noticed differences between stores in terms of usage privileges---

Again, pointing out that there are only basically 3 stores online, Apple's, all the other WMA purchase sites, and then the WMA subscription sites. It's really a choice of 3, not the huge variety you've been lead to believe. As far as priveleges, one of the big complaints about many of the stores is that some songs you could purchase, some you could purchase and burn, and others you could only rent. Not sure if this is still the case, as a Mac user, I'm shut out from the non Apple stores.

---I think you can put that in the "never gonna happen" file. FairPlay AAC---

Big difference, I said AAC, not Fairplay AAC. AAC supposedly offers you better sound than mp3 or WMA in a smaller file size, and it's an open format.

I do also expect Apple to license Fairplay eventually. Just as MS knows there's a huge amount of money to be made if everyone uses your file format, Apple will jump on that boat. Wait till iPod sales slow down, then watch them hop over.
