Not an accurate analogy ...

Actually it is. For MS (or anyone else) to do the equivalent, they would actually have to flash the bios on your PC to break compatability, which isn't exactly the same thing. I mean, you can make whatever changes you want to your software, but do not start f**king with MY hardware.

That seems to be the conservative mindset anyway -morals/ethics only seem to matter in the bedroom, not in the boardroom.
Anyway, I don't understand Apple's beef with Real's codec. They want to sell iPods ... that's the whole reason why iTunes exists, AFAIK. Having other codecs work on the device would only increase sales I would think.
