- Or the tech companies will flex their muscle
-
---I think companies are releasing both technologies because they make money. I can't see anyone stopping selling CD or DVD recorders just because some 13 year olds are copying music online. There is just too much of a market for it, and deep down they (the industry) know that this cpoying isn't really hurting their bottom line. They just want to trick us into thinking that it is.---
The question is whether the tech companies are stupid enough to go along with this. They're a much bigger, much more powerful industry than the entertainment industry. They should have much more clout with Congress. But for some reason, they're buckling under and crippling their own products, offering their customers less than they have given them in the past.
It's not like the MPAA is all of a sudden going to stop releasing movies on DVD if the tech companies do away with copy protection. The MPAA makes more money from video releases than from box office ticket sales. Are they going to walk away from more than half of their income? No way, they'll just suck it up and continue to get rich.
---Which can only mean the most wondrous boon to the homemade porn industry---
Yeah, but do you really want to take that with you and watch it on the bus? - Posted by: tic swayback Posted on: 01/07/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
