On the other hand
taxes pay for services like 7-1-1 - speech to text service for hearing impared people. Since my mother-in-law has lost her hearing, its nice to have a service like this (A HUMAN operator, types in the responses from the "other" caller so the hearing-impared person can read them on a display). Seems to me that it would be better WITHOUT the human in the loop, but besides Bill Gates - no one else thinks that human voice controlling computers is anywhere close . . .

Without those taxes on phone service, my mother-in-law and MANY other older folks would be SOL.
