Misconceptions, Half Truths and out right Lies
The reason the industry is pushing DRM is because with the advent of digital copying it is now possible to duplicate the original with no degradation in quality cheaply. In other words it has enabled the masses to make copies that are as good as the original making piracy an even greater threat by reducing the entry cost to set up operations. The DRM employed in these items from HP still allow you to record your shows and play them on multiple devices within your own home. You can still copy CD's and DVD's to your hard drive. As for your DVD-less bedroom you can spend the $29.00 to get one or buy a media connect device and watch the shows via a network from your Media Center PC.

This may seem a little harsh but there are a lot of untruths being spread about DRM. DRM is not new. Macrovision and other formats have been arround for years. As for boycotting DRM enabled products that includes the latest generation Satellite boxes, cable boxes, DVD Players, DVD Recorders, HDTVs and TIVOs to name a few. All manufacturers are going to include DRM to protect themselves from lawsuits.
