DRM Will Kill It
before i even read the previous reply, my instant thought was, "why the heck drm?". why is it that the content producers are trying to get more control of their content than they've ever had? because they want to make more money off the poor consumer. it's as simple as that. it has little to do with piracy, and everything to do with making more money. just consider making it so you can't record a tv show, forcing you to watch it in real-time, with the ad's. making it so you can't make a vhs tape of a dvd so that you can relax in your dvd-less bedroom while watching that movie. or making it so that, when the dvd/cd collection which you are "licensed" to play, but don't really own, suddenly becomes a total loss because your house burned down and the content producers wouldn't let you make back-up copies (not illegal, just drm-prohibited). or how about that you hae a large collection of cd's/dvd's and you'd just like to copy them to a hard drive-based system to ease the congestion of all those disks laying around? nope, drm sucks because it will keep the consumer from doing what he'd like to do. i encourage everyone to boycott drm products, and to boycott products with a growth path towards drm (ie, windows media player).
