"In my experience those that believe in open source tend to believe in open everything. In their opinion no one should ever have any right to IP under any condition."
If that were true, why have a GPL at all? The GPL exists to do just what you say people involved with Linux are against, the protection of IP. It may be protected along different philosophical lines than you would promote, but it IS protected.
In my experience, people who are philosophically committed to OSS ussually have great interest in preserving IP and reqarding people. They just favor preserving IP for the people and not the company. They believe in compensating the Artist better than the promoter. They believe musicians should be able to control their music, programmers should be able to control their programs, and painters their paintings, etc. Just because they have little, if any, iterest in preserving the status quo, does not mean they intend to be crimminal.
The first half of your post was reasonable in how it debated the topic. The second half was ignorant garbage. Quit wasting my time! - Posted by: Mack DaNife Posted on: 01/04/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
