"...why should I fork out a grand or two for a Mac when I can build a PC. for $600.00..."
Boy does this argument get old. If you did any market reseach you would know Apple doesn't build anything comparable to your "$600" PC, and really doesn't need to. Sub $1000 PCs are only good for inflating a companies units sold. They aren't very profitable.
Before I purchased my PowerMac G5, I compared it to PCs. At that time a Dell Precision 2x3GHZ with 160GB of SATA Hard Drive and enough software to compare to the Mac would have cost me $1500 more than the Apple.
Look at it this way, when you shop WinTel you have your choice of anything from a "Yugo" to a "Rolls". But when you shop Apple the low end is a "BMW". Just because Apple has a small percentage of the computer market doesn't seem to be hurting the company. They are quite profitable with several billion in the bank, and so far the iTune/iPods are still pulling away from the competition, so let's give Jobs his due.
And, good luck with your "Yugo" - Posted by: alterego_z Posted on: 12/20/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
