The commoditization of PC's
According to the following article, this deal is an indication that PC's have, in terms of hardware, become fully commoditized. In other words virtually all of the profitability has been wrung out of the product. It questions whether even Dell can survive in the cut throat market that will follow. Everything will depend on the cost of production, and no one will be able to beat China on cost of production. The days of adding value through innovation are over. A PC is a PC is a PC.
