Because..
It's not how many holes that are EXPLOITED that determine how secure something is, it's how many holes EXIST.

Let's use an analogy. Did you believe America was secure against terrorist attacks on September 10, 2001? Did your perception of this change after September 11th? Did you realize we're really a lot more vulnerable than previously thought?

You see, the number of "holes" in national security didn't increase on September 11th, but the perception of them as a threat did.

That is why security is more about perception than any objective measure.

Objectively, we'd need to count the number of holes that exist (all of them, not just the ones found), and rank them on severity.

But this can never practically be done. If we could find all of the security holes (which we can't), then virtually all software products would be perfectly secure.

Certainly, with the number and severity of flaws currently being exploited, Windows is more dangerous to use. But, in absolute terms, is it less secure? We can never really know.
