Umm...I don't get it...
I'm not a sports fan by any stretch of the imagination...but my understanding is that the object of sports is to challenge yourself to become a better athlete. Lets assume we had the technology to make a golf ball that was able to increase or reduce its flight, correct its trajectory, and always score a hole in one. What would be the point of playing golf?
This could be applied to any sport...like if you designed a bat that always hit the ball out of the park, etc...

While it is interesting that technology is getting to this point, and there are other applications which could use this technology much better...I don't get it the way it is being used here. It seems like it is almost a way to cheat at golf...but the only person you are cheating is yourself. "Hey look, I did all 18 holes under par!" - phft!
