Which is audited by accountants, and has to be submitted to various government departments. Falsification could lead to jail term.
So I think it's fair to say that Microsoft has been losing money on Pocket PC up to and including the current date. Add the losses up over a 7 years, and Microsoft are probably a couple of billion out of pocket. On the other hand they have the assets of the PocketPC codebase, and market presence.
(I don't know if the value of these were included in the balance sheet, Goodwill and IP assets usually are, so Microsoft are probably still a couple of billion out of pocket even with these assets).

Still, you can't play in these kinds of market places and not expect to lose a couple of billion.
Then again, you could interpret this as dumping.
