Microsoft is dropping ball with thier Media Center
Microsoft is goofing up on the Media Center PC. It's a stupid idea. Now if you really want a product that will sell then you go this route instead.

Toss out any idea of having a PC in the entertainment Centre. That's just a bad idea. Now if I was Microsoft I'd sell the Media Center edition of Windows for the home PC. This would just be like a advanced version of Windows XP. Then I'd sell a small black box that's about the size of a X-Box that contained networking components, both wired and wireless. The box would output to TV and to a stereo system. Now this box would hook as a networked extension to the home PC running Windows Media Center edition. The box would allow you to play MP3, Video, and other content. I'd go as far to make a deal with the MPAA to allow for encrypted storage of DVDs in a online database for a movie library that you can surf with the click of few buttons of the mouse.

Adding a PC to the entertainment center just isn't a good idea. The cost is too much and the real estate is scarce in most entertainment centers.
