"So what, I don't see a shortage of any of those items or a lack of competition."

Yeah, but how can you know what better refrigerators we might have had by now, if smaller guys were allowed to stay in the picture?

"The behemoths aren't killing the software industry, they just took it to a whole other level."

Ummm, sure they are! Where have the other browsers been up til now? IE really been exciting lately? How about the three or four other x86 OSes we've been using? Oh, there are none! Imagine if SCO shut down linux at Microsoft's behest. Think you'd be paying cheaper prices for MS software? And what "whole other level" are you referring to? MS software is being more hacked than EVER! Heard of spyware three, four years ago? No. But somehow it seems to be raping this "whole new level" of software! So it seems maybe it has gone to a whole new level; however, this level is a few levels down and not upward. wink

"Sort of like the NBA vs street ball, it isn't even the same game..."

Well, modern day MBA seems a lot like street ball: no intelligent players, a lot of monkeying around, a lot of dirty unsportsmanlike play, a lot of needless fighting. And with the NBA recruiting guys straight out of high school, they really are recruiting guys from "off the street"..
