Things Don't Look Good for PalmSource
The problem PalmSource faces, is the sheer size and sophistication of MS? mobile initiative. MS? Pocket PC and Smartphone OSs are significantly more developed than PalmSource?s OSs. MS? mobile OSs have better interoperability with MS server and other software. Developers have more flexibility, power, and ease when creating applications for MS mobile OSs using VS .Net. PalmSource appears to be making a very good effort to improve its OS, but it appears the company is too late. Even if PalmSource had better mobile software now, the growing size and momentum of MS? broad mobile initiative, would eventually overwhelm the company.
