Guess you missed the part
where they said they were also looking at Linux. If they follow through, this will be the second handheld vendor to use Linux. I am not saying they should, but at least they are evaluating all the options they have.

If they can get openoffice to run on a handheld, then there may be demand for Linux on the handheld as well.

The biggest use of the handled is connections to email. Until that changes, the "exchange" logic will always prevail.
