Can I go back to iTunes 4.6?
With the election just finalizing and the topic of politics hot and burning on many of our faces, we get a shot of politics from what we should be enjoying: our iPods. I understand that Apple does not want the iPod being a big filesharing tool due to possible retaliation by the music industry. But I feel violated after having just upgraded to iTunes 4.7 based on feature benefits only to find that they didn't tell you about blocking the upload plug-in...that plug-in is even published in respected "How to" iTunes books as an option to restore a lot music collection.

Yes, it smacks of politics...just like working hard to get a candidate elected or a law passed only to find out the candidate votes against your most cherished issue or votes for a law that adds lots of new legal benefits, only to find out it is at the expense of your basic constitutional freedoms.

I don't do a lot of hacking or file sharing. I just want the ability to upload the songs in my iPod back to my hard drive if I ever lose it...and as far as file sharing goes, I have 6 computers, a laptop, and two RCA Lyra's that I should have free and legal reasons to store my music on and move it around freely.

The iPod is an awesome player and I have loved seeing Apple prosper, but when they deceptively pull things like this over the user's head, they are going to lose market share and they deserve it.

Want to file share and have a great time with a more basic, totally open unit? Buy an RCA Lyra Jukebox 40GB player...I have one of these two. It has a slower, less refined interface and far fewer options, but it still works and I have been enjoying mine quite a bit...plus it has more power in the headphone output than the iPod, so if you use large headphones, you don't get distortion from strong low frequecy content.

I am keeping my iPod, but I will be going back to version 4.6.
