RIAA take on someone with very deep pockets

The RIAA's tactics are quite clear, they want to use fear as a motivator to not use P2P. Their tactics are no different than terrorists in that they use an approach that instills the thought of "I could be next."

It has been my expirience that fear has its positive effects and will keep one safe from getting harm, however, it is not effective motivator in the long run. Once a person becomes accustomed to an act be it illegal or just risky the emotion of fear is easily ignored. Also there is the thought by music swappers that they are hiding behind a cloak of anonimity in masses of people lessening the chance of getting caught. Rather than creating a market plan that uses the existing technology the RIAA has nothing left but to be "bullies" as you described.

IMO the product that musicians offer today is not worth my dime. When I do hear a song that I am intersted in I refuse to purchase the album/cd because the rest of the songs stink. File sharing IS NOT the cause of shrinking CD sales. The quality of the product being offered and the price are the culprits. Correct those two problems and file sharing will become a mute point.

I think most people are basically honest and lazy. Honest in that they are used to legal file and music swapping much like I did when I was in the military a million years ago. I also think most people are lazy in that no one really likes to sit around downloading and then burning to cd. I'd be willing to bet that most songs downloaded are listened to a few times and never see the light of day on a "copied" cd and probably would not be missed if their hard drives were wiped out.

Bottom line is that the RIAA is further alienating a shrinking customer base and ignoring successful business palns such as Apple Music etal. They remind me of the bully on the block that the more they are ignored the more assinine they become.
