Let's all cheer for common sense
The DMCA created a situation where circumventing encryption of itself was a crime - it doesn't matter what the purpose is.

Copyright protected is well served by existing laws, there is no need for laws specific to digital media any more than books should be protected differently to clay tables or steel sheets. The medium should be irrelevant.
