Other consumer adjustments
People purchasing a Media Center PC for their living room will have to make some major adjustments.

Up to now, comsumers have not had to think about the devices in their entertainment center, and they certainly have not had to maintain them. Televisions, cable boxes, vcrs, Tivos, etc. just work.

Once you add a Windows Media Center PC you have another "feeble family member" that you will have to take care of. Why, because it is Windows powered, and MS Windows is years away from being a stable, secure, operating system. So it will require patching, antivirus, and everything else that your current XP machine requires. And I wouldn't be surprised to hear that there is probably a whole team of people working on spyware for Media Center. Popups over the evening news should be a big hit.

I can hear it now, "Sorry you missed the Super Bowl because the latest Internet worm ate your Windows box, Charlie." "Want to come over to my house and watch it next weekend, I Tivoed it for you?"
