I am not saying Segway is the ultimate answer, but common sense says we can't keep using a 3000 lb. machine to move 175 lb. payload (average person) around. It also makes no sense at all to continue spending billions of dollars every year for roads to hold these monster machines.
Instead of fighting against an energy efficent personal transportation device, cities every where should be encouraging it. I mean if we can have "commuter lanes" why can't we set aside a 3' wide strip of low cost roadway for something like this?
