What "position" do you refer to? My position with regards to the federal government getting involved? What does that have to do with the problems of spyware? I believe I expressed a reluctance to get the government involved, nothing more. That has been my position for many years, regardless of the topic of conversation. This situation doesn't change my wariness of government involvement. Same with VoIP amd Internet taxes. Surely there's a better way than letting the government "handle" things for us.

Give the government a foothold, and soon it will be telling us what we can and can't do with our own computer systems. The government has a vested interest in increasing its control, and has a history of doing just that. Why shouldn't I (or the libertarian Congressman, the original topic) be wary of government involvement?

And it's not at all "obvious" what I know and don't know. You're jumping to conclusions based on a position that you don't agree with. I am able to separate the issues and see the bigger picture.
