- Whenever there is a disaster, this system would break! Earthquakes will change alignment of beams. Hurricanes, Tornados, Wildfires will all obsure the air - which breaks connectivity. Years ago, I looked into being an ISP. I live in a high rise, and another high rise is next door with a Major ISP there. I couldn't run any cables (without permits), so I thought that I could use a laser setup. It would have cost around $3000, but it stops working on rain, fog, smoke, etc. That kept it from being practical enough for me.
