Surprised there are so few remarks on this
If netflix and tivo work this thing through, it will one day completely eliminate video rental stores. Good bye Blockbuster and Hollywood video, and to be honest, the way those 2 treat customers, im glad to see them go. The price of rentals will go down, and no late fees, no driving around, no out of stock on a movie. I think this will be great and it will become a the next big business in entertainment. You can bet that every video rental chain will start making their own services, and the competition will drive prices lower. The only downfall i see, and it seems unavoidable; people will lose jobs. Yes the jobs suck, but they are still valuable jobs especially to young people just starting life and people with no other qualifications. I suppose you just have to roll with the punches or be left behind.
