The New and Unimproved AT&T
I was a "pre-merger" AT&T customer still on a "Blue Plan" (rather than
an "Orange Plan"). My mistake, I guess. It took 40 and more than a
dozen phone calls to AT&T tech support to get my previous plan
converted from blue to orange to iPhone. Of the dozen AT&T
operators I talked to, I'd estimate that three, maybe four, were at all
competent. Most gave conflicting information, and one was
downright rude. Truly one of the worst customer service experiences
I've ever had.

What makes me maddest is that the buying experience at the Apple
store, including the three-hour wait in line, was great fun ??and then
AT&T comes along, and puts the stink on the whole iPhone
experience. How stupid is it that AT&T can offer an iPhone plan to a
T-Moblie customer in three minutes, but it takes them 40 hours to
complete the activation for their own customers? Pretty darn stupid.
