It was expected - Vista will take a year to be taken as mainstream
I enjoy new technology and software like the next guy, but VISTA is not going to be mainstream for at least another year.

Several of my clients in the early days, decided to purchase from a local vendor, instead of Dell, as Dell were not clear that they would continue to sell XP. I think this is not an isolated case. One client purchased a HP laptop, even though they wanted a Sony Vaio, but Sony would not supply XP. Loss to Sony.

Business clients do not need to be worried whether a printer driver is available or not, they don't need to be worried that their legacy software will or wont work, and if it does work, why is it taking 10 minutes to open a database, or why has the printing layout changed.

This is not conjecture. We have several clients that were not convinced on Vista not be suitable for business at this time. So we challenged them to buy one (some were buying their normal run of 10 or so machines). Soon after its arrival, the issues started occurring, things that might take 10 mins on XP, will take a couple of hours. E.g a printer driver (supposedly Vista compliant), when set as the default printer would cause an APPCRASH in Word and Excel (outlook, powerpoint, publisher all worked fine). But that took time as we had to backtrack to find what caused it.

Anyhow, I took one of the last quotes of the Story and changed it slightly. Worst part is that it is just as believable as the one in the story.

"Windows Vista is just as vulnerable, painful to use, less supported and more cumbersome than any operating system we've ever released"
