The end of WMA
The hidden result of Apple's move is going to be the death of WMA. Why would any store or player manufacturer support WMA anymore, if DRM is no longer necessary? Why pay the extra licensing fee for a file format that hardly anyone uses on their portable player (given that the vast majority of players are iPods that don't support it).

Say what you will about Steve Jobs and his DRM attitudes, he has effectively killed off the proprietary WMA format in favor of the open AAC format (along with the obvious and most popular open format of all, mp3). Good news for consumers, bad news for Microsoft as they won't have as much control over the market as they'd like.
