Most the largest companies I've worked at in the last couple of years
Are heading towards laptops only. Space is far more a premium than hardware costs. People need to be able to take their work home etc.

Repairs are an issue but how many companies actually do hardware maintance on their own equipment (its an incredible waste of resources). Something breaks you ring up warranty they replace it within 24 hours. Out of warranty buy a new laptop.

PS I hate laptops, hate the keyboards, hate the way it makes you a target to be robbed etc but such is life.

Geeks moding their PC's at home are not the norm
