I think it has to do with
Microsoft not being mentioned in the article but at the same time using their name to imply thay are behind this issue.

Oh, you should refrain from using the word "hero" unless, of course, you're talking about some real ones. Apple (as do pretty much all corporations) does not fit the bill.
