iTunes integration is the key...
"In what world do these people live? Are they completely oblivious to the fact that Internet-enabled DVRs and set-top boxes, not to mention digital media adapters, have been around for a couple of years?" Greeson wrote. "Are they aware that the latest generation of game consoles do pretty much the same thing as Apple TV (sans iTunes), including burning content to an embedded hard drive?"

adds "san iTunes" as an after thought, but with the reality of the digital media landscape being the way it is that a huge stumbling block..

the other thing that people, tech writers included don't really seem to understand is that apple TV doesn't need all those features of a media center PC, because in Apples scheme the media center remains in the den or in the study and Apple TV is a wireless conduit to it. in M$ scheme i need to shell out for another PC.. but i don't want to buy another PC i have one with all the MC features already... this lets me keep one powerful PC in the house and i can beam around the media on it as i see fit... cheaply and saving a lot of space in the living room.
