Customers miffed over DirecTV with TiVo problems

D* TiVo issues minor. Real nightmare is D* HR20

I've had a DirecTV HR10-250 for several years. A recent software upgrade caused some issues with some users, but most users (including me) saw little if any problem. The only ones I saw were more frequent audio drop-outs on channels that already had audio drop-out problems (HBOHD and FOXHD); and one instance when the service data apparently didn't match up with the new software's expected data format. Reloading the service data fixed this.

HOWEVER, then I got an HR20. What a piece of trash. Anyone who is complaining about their HR10 TiVo would thank their lucky stars for their minor problems if they saw this garbage. One can only hope that DirecTV's new owner will ditch this unit from a Murdoch-owned subsidiary NDS (ticker NNDS) and replace at least it's software with TiVo.

Atroceous user interface, clumsy remote and far more technical problems than TiVo. They ahve been updating the software every couple of weeks, in an apparently random search for a working version. Low budget programming gets you low budget results, and DirecTV needs to go back to TiVo (or at least to competent software) as this thing seems unfixable. Bad design cannot be debugged.
