"Umm hate to tell you this, but Apple Inc? is a hardware company. They made OS X not (O$X) to sell hardware."

Yeah, right... which is why they charge money for their OS, just like Windows does.

"The iPod doesn't support .wma or .wmv files as the license required by Microsoft would prohibit Apple from selling "fairplay" tracks. So Microsoft is the onerous one here."

DRM is unnecessary GARBAGE (which doesn't do a thing to stop digital piracy) be it Apple OR Microsoft.

"Being that windows is not as good as OS X (and cost twice as much)."

Depends on your experience I guess. Last OSX I used was at my old job where I worked with that OS for 4 years. Those Macs crashed more second party apps (Photoshop, MultiAd and Acrobat especially) more often than any version of Windows I have worked with. Bad luck? Perhaps, but since I only have my own experiences to base this on I'd have to say OSX is has not been a very stable OS. And don't ask me which versions of OSX cause I went through a few working there and I didn't keep track of them. Peronal home use for me has been Windows XP Pro, and before that Win98, both of which have worked flawlessly for me for the most part.

"The only answer I could think of is for Microsoft to further abuse it's monopoly position."

Sooner or later when I have to get up and flush my iToilet(TM) and fetch the iPaper(TM) from the porch in the morning I'm gonna laugh at these stupid "MS has a monopoly" statements.

"It's ok when Microsoft charges $199 for a service pack (windows xp is NT 5.1 and windows 2k was NT 5). Yet when Apple replaces the Kernel and adds more applications, they (Apple) should give it away for free? What's Microsoft's next service pack going to cost? I believe it's anywhere from $159 to $329."

MS "service packs" are a free download, new OS versions of Windows are not. Mac hasn't released a "new" OS at all since it released OSX... just upgrades to OSX which they dub with different cat names and charge for of course. Comparing these two TOTALLY DIFFERENT companies like this is about as pointless as comparing apples to oranges (no pun intended).
