Well, for starters
How about O$X? If it truely interoperated with standard hardware, you could run it on a Toshiba. But you can't. It's more their most onerous licensing. Also, I don't believe the iPod plays wmp? Is that true? That constitutes a huge void of lacking interoperability at the software level. Apple equipment is proprietary. Can you load Windows natively on a Mac? If not, wouldn't this be another huge lack of interoperability or at least standards support. Windows OS is as standard as they come with over 90% of the market.
It makes me laugh when the Apple zealots complain about MS lock in and domination while Apple locks you in to their hardware and you have pay 129 bucks a year for service packs. Their electronic devices, while nice, are very proprietary in the sense you can't play whatever you want on them at the software level. And they are too expensive for the average user. Anyone I know has a creative labs et. al.
