- Who would you wait in line for to see?
-
And why?
The article has a fatal flaw which explains why the author doesn't get it: Apple is
NOT a company that is out to extract more cash from its customers. Apple's
margins are neither higher nor lower than most other full service manufacturer
nor are its products priced higher on a value-for-value basis.
Steve Jobs is the technology genius of the 20th century but because he didn't
make more money than Bill Gates (who is NOT the technology genius everybody
thinks he is as proven by his failure as Chief Software Architect or something) he
is overlooked.
Bill Gates and Donald Trump I would class in the same category - really rich guys.
But Donald Trump I would stand in line to see because he has been innovative,
successful, failure and successful again. He is somebody important. AND he his
companies have never been convicted of breaking the law to get where they
wanted to be.
Steve's vision of technology and how it should serve the user rather than vice-
versa (which has made Microsoft so big) is what drives Apple - not corporate
profits, not market share, not shareholder value. Apple is a company that makes
products to make life BETTER. Not necessarily NEW stuff all the time but BETTER
all the time.
That is worth me standing in line to see. I saw Steve Jobs in Paris and it was one
of the highlights of my life - he inspires, he's cool, he's a guy like the rest of us
that does things for "the rest of us."
Remain dumbfounded, y'all, I don't care. But THIS is THE guy in tech and if you
are too blind to see it, get glasses. - Posted by: mlindl Posted on: 01/10/07 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
