Blu-Ray for PCs, HD-DVD for movie discs
Movie studios use HD-DVD, PCs get Blue-Ray burners.

Disc-burners want the capacity more. Multilayering should allow HD-DVD to carry 1080p movies on 1 disc.

Not surprised the MPAA would push this. It will concentrate piracy on teh organized groups willing to spend money much more expensive HD-DVD drive or mod a HD-DVD player to work as a drive (hack in IDE/SATA interface; expensive or modding needed because they are only manufactured for consumer devices). Although HD-Rips and 'dv-rips' are becoming almost as common as DVD-rips, at least for TV-shows and sporting events, so it may all become moot (ie DB-Rip / HD-Rip / DV-Rips from HBO)
