The technology is indeed ahead of its time, but people are not forced into anything, alot are happy with standard DVD and not willing to change, and companies now know that fact.
I believe HD technology would take a lot of time to really invade our homes... I am not willing to get into that technology because of all the unknowns surrounding its future.
But say I want to get into it now, I would really invest a paycheck in it, just to save me future headaches...
Smart customers aiming HD now, would buy a combo player, smart companies should invest in engineering that kind of eqipment in a way that suits all, screwing that war crap, bringing those two in harmony, and leaving the customer happy not to worry about that trivial crap as mentioned...
And again as GeiselS said, I am loyal to any company that makes my life easier...
