This is news?
Solid State Drives have been available to the public for years. The only thing that's remotely news is that SanDisk is getting in the game, but since they are only selling to corporate customers, I'm barely interested.

[url=http://www.storagesearch.com/ssd.html]Look here[/url] for more information and links to other manufacturers. The costs are still up there, but improving. Also note that a veriety of formfactors are (and have been) available, incl. standard 2.5" and 3.5" configurations.
