There is no innovation
What innovation? The only innovation apple has had with the ipod is the whay it looks (style over substance) and the idea to use smaller HD's 4 or 5 years ago.

Nothing since then has been terribly innovative. Video was done before them, gapless was done years before them, on the fly playists (I think they've got that now) was done before them.

I guess you could argue iTunes is innovative, but that's innvative marketing/locking people into your player forever, not innovative technology (and incredibly anti-consumer as well, but smart iPod owners likely avoid iTunes like the plague).

My next player may be an iPod (because they've finally gotten things to the point of being acceptable), but it's not because of apple "innovation."
