By giving reductions for a limited time, Sony was showing off their capabilities as a giant in the electronics industry. They would not dare advertise such a dramatic price decrease because everyone would than be aware of the incredible markups. The so-called sale price is what would be charged in a reasonable consumer market, but since so many just have to have the latest and greatest at any cost you can't blame them for maximizing profits all year round with this one spurt exception.
I wouldn't waste my money or time on chasing High Definition because greater things are on the horizon and because my Apple PowerMac G5 has a 23" HD monitor that is satisfying for the time being. - Posted by: dobestpossible@...
