Prices
You do know you buy $1700 Dell laptops right?

What makes them more expensive? Why do people buy them? I suspect the same reason people buy more expensive Apple laptops.

Personally I think Apple's price on thier Laptops is little over priced for what you get but not that much. Guess that's the price you pay for name.

Don't forget, cheap laptops come with strings attached. Signing up for Vonage for 1 year for example. Then there are those rebates, some are straight forward other require you buy extra stuff to get them. Like this printer I saw, you got a $75 rebate if you bought a package ink, I think it was Cannon. You needed the ink but you can get cheaper 3rd party ink for half the price. So you end up spending $130 (4 cartriges) for ink to get $75 off when you could have paid $60 (4 @ $15 a pop). Still a savings just not as big as it looks on the surface.

Then there is a Telco offering $400 off the price of Laptop, getting really close to that $100 but you sign a contract for 3 year of internet at higher price. Basically $15 a month more, that's $540 you spend over 3 years to get that $400. Not such good deal when you look at it like that.
