Where's the online multiplayer?
The difference betweeen the Wii and the other nextgen consoles is not just graphics. It's networked multiplayer games.

The Wii seems to be missing online multiplayer games. There are no online multiplayer games among the launch titles. The first online multiplayer game for the Wii is a Pokemon Stadium game that hasn't even been scheduled for release yet. Call of Duty 3 will be single player on the Wii but multiplayer on the other platforms.

The most fun we've had with the GameCube has always been the frantic multiplayer action of titles like Smash Brothers, Monkey Ball and Mario Kart.

So to play multiplayer games on the Wii will mean buying additional controllers at $60 each. The system starts to get expensive when you start adding those. True it's not as costly as the 360 or PS3, but it's not exactly a bargain people seem to think it is.

I'm not convinced the online Wii Channels (displayed at SDTV resolution) will be compelling for the US market.

The Wii's downloadable retro games sound fun.

But Nintendo has to get their internet-enabled game on to really complete with the nextgens.
