Sony is in the Blu Ray group, Microsoft in HD-DVD
they are separate, the two groups failed to have a last minute unification, so you can't say one can or would support the other because in the end they are jockey to not only finish first in the race but have the competition go away, ala betamax vs vhs. You can only get those manufacturers and entertainment companys that didn't sign on to be 'exclusive' to create media or devices that do both or unify them in a device. It's what they worked out and it's a mess, but nothing that Sony or MS will change for their devices.
