Want to hear something funny?
Up here in Canada all the stores are selling Blu-Ray and HD-Movies. I know a guy at the local Future shop and he says they can't give those movies away because you can't buy players yet. Talk about stupid.

They basically can't even get a player it demo let alone sell. So if you can't buy and the prices for the movies are outrageously high. Like who's going to pay $25 for 1987 like Leathal weapon. First it wasn't even filmed in HD and they want that much money for it. I can buy in the bargain bin at Walmart for $6.88. That's pretty tough competition to beat even if the quality is hight. New movies are going for $35 to $50 depending on the type of movie. Action flicks seem to go higher than drama movies.

I figure they are doomed for a few reasons. First like you said they are selling out because of limited supply and in many case you just can't get a player. Next to make it worth while you need a new HDTV and those aren't cheap. Then add the cost the movies.

Like I said if the prices stay high this doomed. Now prices could come down but will they in time? All it takes even a rumor of better tech on the horizon. So if a better technology does get rumored about that is HD and doesn't scratch as easily then that will doom this too. Now I don't expect prices will come down till more HDTVs are sold and that probably isn't going to happen on mass this decade as 2009 is the deadline. There really is just too much working against this technology.

I'd love better quality but I don't have the cash for it so I'm out of luck there. Maybe once the mortage gets paid down some more and I renegotiate then maybe. But by then I figure something new will be showing anyways I'll end up waiting for that.
