Cable 'Greed Wins' always
If I read the article correctly - Congress and the FCC told Cable companies to stop being proprietary and separate encryption from delivery of product (cable signals). They did NOT.

They make two and a half billion a year doing it their way, they would have to spend 450+ million to do it the new way.

D'oh! So don't hold your breath, you would die before the cable companies give us what the law requires.
